Abstract: The movement of bodies in atmosphere with hypersonic velocities is followed by their intensive heating that could effect their aerothermomechanical destruction. The material entraining effects the shape of the moving body and changes its aerodynamic characteristics. As extremely high velocities could be only realized experimentally with the light gas ballistic guns at restricted mass of the body under investigation, as a rule, the materials of etalon shape are studied. The use of optical and X-ray recording apparatus is allowed one to visualize the corresponding processes and discover the difference in character of destruction for bodies with different compositions.
