Abstract: During implementation of the project for environmental remediation of the temporary storage facility (TSF) for spent nuclear fuel (SNF) and radioactive waste (RW) in Gremikha the need arose for integration, verification and visual presentation (visualization) of data coming from the work participants. Since the work participants have no experience in comprehensive implementation of remediation of former Northern Fleet facilities, a large amount of R&D work was carried out.
An information and analysis system (IAS) that accumulates project information and allows the project team to efficiently solve various problems arising in the course of the work at all project stages was developed at RRC “Kurchatov Institute” to provide information support to the remediation activities. The IAS includes a 3D model of the TSF that comprises models of the terrain, roads, buildings, facilities subject to remediation, and equipment, model of the Sviatonosskiy Bay water area, and model data visualization tools. These data are used to the full extent for simulation of radioactive waste handling processes.
