Abstract: |
With the help of Hilbert-optics and shear interferometry, convective structures and a wave of crystallization, induced by a temperature gradient in a horizontal layer of supercooled water, bounded by thermostatted surfaces, are visualized. The obtained results illustrate the effectiveness of optical methods in problems related to the study of convection and phase transitions of interest for physical modeling and practical applications. |
